BAILÉ ESA CANCIÓN PARA QUE VOSOTRAS PUDIÉRAIS BAILAR OTRA DISTINTA
I danced to that song so you could dance to a different one.

I asked one of my grandmas once what she would have like to have been if she was born now. She said she didn't know, but that she would've loved to be able to study (she could barely write her own name). She told me "we were treated like animals, born to work the fields, to clean the house, to birth the children, to take care of others". My other grandma could read, but was not allowed to work or have any other dreams aside from raising children and cleaning the house. I remember her reading a lot, and solving puzzles. I always thought she was sad. Now that I am grown I guess she was depressed, and bored. She was very smart. My mom was the first one in my family to go to university. My aunt was the first one to travel and move to a different country. I am the first one to get a Masters. Never forget only 50 years ago we couldn't have our own bank accounts or passports without our fathers or husbands legally allowing us to. Never forget. Not a single step back.

Experimental application of the concept of visual series. Academic assignment for LABASAD’s Visual Narratives’ module. I took the opportunity to tell the story of the women of my family and to honor the silent labor of millions of other women throughout human history.

Having so many figures in the same image, I wanted to make sure that I created a sense cohesion for the overall illustration. I decided to use geometrical figures as references to build the structures of each part of the secuence, as well as using lines with similar or equal curvatures to ensure the fluidity of the movements while making sure they were similar to each other, resembling a choreography.
