On community.
Personal project. Illustration part of a series of a 100, creating 1 per day for 100 days (3 months). Part of the #100DaysProject Scotland 2021. Full project here.
During the pandemic I experienced a couple of difficulties on top of the global health crisis we all went through: one of them was a breakup after the first lockdown and the subsequent loneliness that came after that during the next few lockdowns. I had to re-discover the joys of being by myself, and I got there eventually, but being a unipersonal “bubble” (groups of people you lived with are where able to interact with in Scotland) was hard. This specific drawing is about the community of friends without whom I don’t think I’d been able to make it. You can’t do all the work by yourself.
There are a few drawings on this subject in the 2021 series. It was initially done using just pen and paper, which only gave me one go. Don’t get me wrong it did look good, but once I got my iPad, I decided to do a newer version, add more details and correct some small things, but always keeping the pen a paper feel.
