BEST COMPANY IN BED.

During the pandemic I experienced a couple of difficulties on top of the global health crisis we all went through: one of them was a breakup after the first lockdown and the subsequent loneliness that came after , during the next few lockdowns. I had to re-discover the joys of being by myself, and books were a lifeline for me during that time (as they have always been throughout my life).​​​
​As this was a 100 illustration series reflecting on what I went through during the pandemic, this drawing had a before and an after, as the stories evolves , but I realised this illustration worked by itself as an ode to the love of reading. ​This small safe space (the bed, the books) has made several appearances in my illustrations.​
The initial sketch is the one on the top right side of this site, but I did a more detailed version later on. Before I had my tablet, I bought a tracing table just to do re-do this drawing. The final version is still the one done by hand, pen and paper, only digitalised.
